What Omnisend is
Omnisend is the pragmatic answer to Klaviyo. It does the same fundamental job (email and SMS driven by what customers do in your shop) with less depth, less configuration and a much smaller bill.
The product ships with the standard ecommerce automations already built: welcome, abandoned cart, abandoned browse, post-purchase, winback. For a small merchant that is most of the value of an ecommerce email tool, available on the first afternoon rather than after a fortnight of building flows.
Pricing
The free plan is unusual in this comparison because it is limited by volume rather than by features: 250 contacts and 500 emails a month, but with access to the full feature set including SMS and push. You can evaluate the actual product rather than a demo of it.
Standard is $11.20 a month at 500 contacts, Pro $41.30 at 2,500 with unlimited email. SMS is charged per message on top, which is normal for the category but still a separate line on the bill.
What it does well
- Prebuilt ecommerce automations that work immediately, no flow-building required
- Substantially cheaper than Klaviyo for comparable small-store use
- Email, SMS and web push in one subscription against one customer profile
- A free plan that includes every feature rather than a stripped subset
Where it falls short
- Segmentation and reporting are shallower than Klaviyo’s at scale
- Almost pointless without an online store behind it
- US hosting, so no EU data residency
- SMS costs stack up quickly and are easy to underestimate
Who Omnisend is for
A good fit
Small and mid-sized online shops that want Klaviyo-style ecommerce flows without Klaviyo's bill.
- Shopify, WooCommerce and BigCommerce stores that want cart, winback and post-purchase flows working on day one
- Merchants who found Klaviyo's pricing steep and do not need its full depth
- Small teams that want email, SMS and web push in one subscription rather than three
- Shops that want prebuilt automation templates rather than a blank canvas
Not a fit
You have no store, need the deepest segmentation available, or want EU data residency.
- There is no online shop behind your list , use MailerLite instead
- You run a large store and need the deepest segmentation and attribution available , use Klaviyo instead
- You need EU data residency , use Brevo instead

Is Omnisend free?
Yes, up to 250 contacts and 500 emails a month, and unusually the free plan includes all features of the paid plans rather than a stripped-down subset. The limits are on volume, not capability.
How much does Omnisend cost?
Standard is $11.20 per month at 500 contacts with 6,000 monthly emails, and Pro is $41.30 at 2,500 contacts with unlimited emails. Prices scale with contact count, and SMS is charged per message.
Omnisend or Klaviyo?
Klaviyo goes deeper on segmentation, reporting and revenue attribution, and is the better tool for large stores. Omnisend covers the standard ecommerce flows well at a much lower price, which fits most small shops better.
Does Omnisend work without an online store?
Technically yes, but almost every advantage it has comes from reading order and browsing data. Without a store you are paying for ecommerce features you cannot use, and a general tool will serve you better.
Does Omnisend include SMS?
Yes, in the same account and against the same customer profile, but SMS is billed per message on top of your plan. The convenience is real; the cost is separate from the headline price.
